James and Jenn are young, enthusiastic new homeowners trying to be self-sufficient, live sustainably, and be kind to the Earth as they fix up their new home. They believe in saving money by making things from scratch, repairing things when they break, re-purposing great finds and tackling as many projects as they can themselves, so that they can spend less time working and more time doing what they love.
Jenn and James met in Austin, Texas in 2006, where they were both attending graduate school. They painted every wall in their condo there, and made lots of other improvements. Once it was finished, it was time to move to Toronto and start over, this time with a house. They were married in Vancouver in 2010, and adopted their dog Asta (named after the dog in The Thin Man movies) in early 2011.
This year will be full of home renovation projects, and James and Jenn will be planting their first garden, since they moved in just in time! They will also be sharing great household hints and tips that will help you save money, and make your home improvement projects go smoothly. They have learned a lot along the way, and keep learning more with every project they take on, and they can't wait to share all of their inspiration, insight and misadventures with you.
